Did you know that
up to 70% of your blood volume flows directly into the subcutaneous tissue while you’re in the sauna?
This vascular training is one of the reasons why people visit the sauna even in the summer.
How does your internal thermostat work?
Thermoregulation is controlled by a small center in our brain (the hypothalamus), which ensures that your body temperature remains stable at around 37 °C. In the sauna, it receives a strong stimulus—it increases cardiac output by more than 50%and at the same time accelerates blood circulation. As soon as you start sweating profusely, your internal cooling system kicks into high gear.

A Sauna for Your Own Air Conditioning
The whole principle is based on alternating between heat and cold. In the sauna, the blood vessels in the skin dilate as much as possible to allow excess heat to escape, and then they constrict again during the cooling phase in the shower or in an ice-cold pool.

The body adapts to sudden changes in temperature
With regular sauna sessions, you become much more resilient to extreme temperatures. You’ll be able to stay in the steam room a little longer, and this will gradually start to show in your everyday life as well. So even if temperature records are being broken outside, you’ll feel comfortable and have more energy.

What can you look forward to?
What happens to sweat?
This doesn’t mean you’ll stop sweating entirely. However, your body is able to cool itself much more effectively and the composition of your sweat also changes, containing significantly less salt. This way, you don’t lose important minerals that contribute to vitality and good physical condition.
